Puget Sound Energy seeking 1.5 percent gas rate hike

BELLEVUE, Wash. (AP) - Puget Sound Energy is asking Washington regulators to approve an increase of about 1.5 percent in natural gas rates.

If approved by the state Utilities and Transportation Commission, the typical household's bill would increase about a dollar to nearly $79 a month, starting in November.

The Bellevue-based utility has 760,000 natural gas customers in 10 counties. It says it needs the rate hike because of an increase in wholesale prices.
