Portland woman finds undeveloped film showing Mount St. Helens eruption
PORTLAND, Ore. - A Portland woman's hobby is taking her back in time.
Kati Dimoff enjoys hunting for undeveloped film. She says she likes to scrounge through local convenience stores, checking cameras for forgotten film rolls.
One of her most recent and fascinating finds was a roll that contained historic photos of the Mount St. Helens eruption in 1980.
She discovered the roll in a camera dating back to 1938. The film was badly damaged, Dimoff said.
"I think it's kind of funny to think that someone shot [these images]...and then somehow left the film in the camera and forgot to get it developed for 37 years," Dimoff said.
The camera also contained a photo of a family, including a grandma and a small child.
"I'm hoping someone recognizes the family so we can figure out who shot the film," Dimoff said.
