Police: Woman pepper sprayed for whistling

SEATTLE -- A woman was pepper sprayed for whistling last week in South Lake Union, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to the report for the incident, the victim was walking in the 1800 block of Yale Avenue around 10 p.m. June 4 when a man ran out of a nearby alley and screamed, "Why are you making noise and whistling?"

The man then reportedly took out pepper spray and sprayed the victim directly in the face.

The victim was able to make it to a 24 Hour Fitness, where staff called police. The pepper-sprayer was not located.
