Police: Woman arrested for firing at men she says killed her dog
WENATCHEE, Wash. -- A 37-year-old woman was arrested early Thursday for firing a rifle at or near two men she claims tortured and killed her dog, according to the Wenatchee Police Department.
According to police, someone called 911 from a house on Orondo Street around 1:45 a.m. to report another resident was shooting at him.
Officers arrived and arrested Sara Keffeler as she reportedly tried to escape out the back of the house. A search warrant turned up a rifle, bullets and shell casings.
According to police, Keffeler said she fired the rifle because she discovered two fellow residents had tortured and killed her dog. Detectives found the dead dog buried behind the house.
Jamar Stipek, 20, and an unnamed 15-year-old were arrested at the scene for investigation of animal cruelty. Keffeler is facing possible domestic-violence assault charges.
In addition to the three people arrested, there was also a 7-year-old in the house at the time of the shooting.
No one was injured in the incident.
