Police: Victim shot while defending self during robbery

SEATTLE -- A man was shot in the leg while trying to defend himself during a robbery early Tuesday morning in the Central District, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the victim and his brother were walking home from a gas station around 12:30 a.m. when they were confronted by three men wearing bandannas over their faces near 23rd Avenue and James Street.

When the masked men started to pat the brothers down, the victim pulled out a knife. In response, one of the men took out a gun and shot the victim in the leg, according to police.

The three men ran off, and the brothers walked back to the gas station to call police.

Officers were unable to find the suspects, and the victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he is expected to recover.
