Police: Unhelpful victim causes fickle robber to give up, go home
SEATTLE -- Displaying the level of effort and stick-to-itiveness most people expect of today's youth, a young man attempted to rob a woman at knifepoint Saturday before simply giving up and walking home, according to the Seattle Police Department.
According to police, the victim was walking her dog in the 7600 block of Latona Avenue Northeast around 8 p.m. when a young man walked up to her, held out a knife and said something the woman took to mean she should hand over her money.
When the woman failed to immediately give the would-be robber anything, he walked away and went into a nearby house, according to police.
As officers were setting up containment, the young man's mother came out of the house and started talking to officers. Her son came out a short time later and was arrested.
The fickle suspected robber was booked into the Youth Service Center for investigation of robbery.
