Police: Teen girl assaulted during party in Edmonds

EDMONDS, Wash. -- A 16-year-old runaway was hospitalized after suffering a neck injury during a party that got out of control early Tuesday in Edmonds, according to the Edmonds Police Department.

A resident in the 8400 block of 191st Street Southwest called 911 around 1:15 a.m. to report a girl outside their home asking for help.

According to police, officers arrived and determined the victim had been assaulted and suffered a neck injury. Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the injury and the nature of the assault.

There were multiple witnesses at the scene, some of whom were reportedly not cooperative with officers. A number of witnesses, as well as the victim, told officers they heard a gunshot during a disturbance at what officers determined to be a party that got out of control.

The victim, who had run away from her home in Everett, was taken to Swedish Hospital for treatment, and her parents were notified.

Police are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.
