Police: Teen burglars armed with knives, hatchet arrested
SEATTLE -- Officers arrested a pair of 13-year-old boys armed with knives and a hatchet following a burglary Monday night in Delridge, according to the Seattle Police Department.
According to police, a married couple were woken up around 11:30 p.m. by voices and flashlights inside their apartment in the 7900 block of Delridge Way Southwest.
The husband confronted the teens in a guest bedroom, and they told him they thought they were in a friend's house, according to police. The man told the teens to get out, and they ran out of the apartment.
Officers stopped two teens matching the description of the burglars boarding a bus outside the apartment building, and the husband identified them as the boys who had been in his apartment.
According to police, officers found an iPod and iPhone belonging to the victims on the teens, as well as knives, a hatchet and marijuana. The teens had apparently entered the apartment by removing a window screen and opening the window.
The teens were arrested and booked into the Youth Services Center.
