Police: Speeding motorcyclist killed in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. - A motorcyclist died in a crash on SR-526 in Everett Sunday evening and police say speeding was likely to blame.

Dispatchers received a call just before 6:30 that the crash had occurred east of Airport Road, said spokesman Aaron Snell.

Witnesses told police the rider had been among a group of three motorcyclists that were heading east on the freeway when one was going exceedingly fast, lost control and crashed. The 24-year-old man died at the scene.

The two other motorcyclists returned to the scene and were being investigated by officers, Snell said.

The freeway was closed for a portion of Sunday evening so officers could conduct the investigation.

The victim's name has not been released.
