Police searching for man suspected in string of shootings
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Federal Way police are on the hunt for a man they believe may be behind a recent string of shooting that killed two men and injured a third.
Investigators suspect 27-year-old Bernard Bellerouche shot and killed a man last week outside of a Federal Way apartment complex.
On the night of May 7, officers were called to an apartment complex located in the 27600 block of Pacific Highway South. When they arrived they found the body of a man in his 20s. The man, who has not been identified, had died of a single gunshot wound, according to police.
Detectives have also named Bellerouche a "person of interest" in two other shootings this week. On Monday evening, Des Moines police responded to several calls about gunshots in the area of South 218th and 29th Avenue South.
When they arrived on scene, police learned the shots were likely coming from two cars. While investigating, they found a 28-year-old man with a gunshot wound sitting in a parked car. That man refused to say who shot him and was taken to Harborview Medical Center with unknown injuries, according to police.
A third shooting was reported early Tuesday morning in the 28100 block of 18th Avenue South in Federal Way. When police arrived at the scene they found an injured man sitting in a parked car outside of the Mariposa Apartments. That man, who was 22-years old, was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be treated for a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead later that morning.
After interviewing a host of witnesses, police now believe Bellerouche may have had a hand in all three shootings.
On Tuesday evening Federal Way detectives and the Valley SWAT team served a search warrant on Bellerouche's Federal Way apartment, which is located in the 27800 block of Pacific Highway South. Bellerouche wasn't in the apartment, and police are now warning residents to be on the look out for him.
Detectives say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Bellerouche, who also goes by the nickname "Crucial," stands 6'2" tall and weighs roughly 295 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.
Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to immediately call 911.
