Police: Officer hospitalized after driver hits patrol car
SEATTLE -- An officer was hospitalized early Thursday morning after a driver in Beacon Hill crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into the officer's patrol car, according to the Seattle Police Department.
According to police, the officer was driving north on Swift Avenue South just north of Mars Avenue North shortly after 5:45 a.m. when he was hit by a sedan.
Both cars were severely damaged, and the officer was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. The driver was treated on the scene.
Investigators said neither drugs nor alcohol are a factor in the crash, but are still looking into why the sedan driver crossed the center line.
Police are continuing to investigate in the collision.
