Police: Mukilteo tanning salon robbed at knifepoint

MUKILTEO, Wash. -- A Mukilteo tanning salon was robbed at knifepoint Tuesday night, according to the Mukilteo Police Department.

According to police, a man with his sweatshirt hood cinched tight over his face entered the Desert Sun tanning salon at 12502 Mukilteo Speedway shortly after 10 p.m., showed a pocket knife and demanded money.

The man ran off before officers arrived, and a K9 search for him came up empty, according to police.

It seems tanning-salon robberies are more common than natural tans in Seattle.

A man allegedly robbed an Edmonds Tropical Tan at gunpoint last May, and another man was arrested -- turned in by his own mother -- after reportedly robbing 18 tanning salons (and two sex shops) around Puget Sound.
