Police: Man who attacked sister with oar arrested after standoff

SEATTLE -- A Beacon Hill man was arrested early Thursday morning, six hours after attacking his sister with an oar and getting into a standoff with officers, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the man attacked his sister with the oar around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the family's home near South Lucile Street and 20th Avenue South.

When officers arrived, the man refused to leave the home and didn't respond to officers or negotiators, according to police.

SWAT officers eventually entered the house around 12:30 a.m. Thursday and arrested the suspect.

He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of domestic-violence assault.
