Police: Man turns himself in after stabbing friend to death

MOUNTLAKE TERRACE, Wash. - A 20-year-old man turned himself in after stabbing his friend to death early Saturday in Mountlake Terrace, police said.

The incident unfolded at about 1:50 a.m. when dispatchers received a 911 call from a woman who said she was locked in her bedroom and was reporting a 20-year-old male roommate with a possible fatal stab wound.

The woman said another man, the roommate's friend, had fled from the residence on foot after the stabbing.

Police and medics responded to the residence, in the 6300 block of St. Albion Way, and found the roommate dead from "significant" stab wounds, said Cmdr. Doug Hansen of the Mountlake Terrace police.

At roughly the same time, 911 dispatchers received a call from a 20 year-old Mountlake Terrace man who told them he had just "killed his friend," Hansen said. The suspect was cooperative and was taken into custody by officers soon after.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of second-degree murder.

Detectives are continuing the investigation.
