Police: Man tried to rob Safeway checker at gunpoint

KENT, Wash. -- The Kent Police Department is looking for a man suspected of attempting to rob a Safeway checker at gunpoint last week.

According to police, the suspect came through a checkout line at the grocery store at 20830 108th Ave. S.E. in Kent around 9 p.m., pulled out a gun, and handed the checker a note demanding cash.

The checker reportedly yelled, getting the attention of other people in the store, and the suspect ran off.

Officers were unable to find the suspect, who is described as a white man between 18 and 25 years. He is approximately 5-feet-8-inches tall and thin with brown eyes and dark hair.
