SEATTLE - Police are looking for a suspect who shot a 40-year-old man in the stomach early Monday morning in the Belltown area of Seattle.

Officers responded to the scene, in the 2400 block of 1st Avenue, at about 3 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, said Detective Mark Jamieson of the Seattle Police Department.

Witnesses told officers they heard a single gunshot in the area of 1st Avenue and Battery Street, and then saw a man running away, saying that he had been shot. Two other men were seen running from the scene.

Officers found the victim and began performing first aid on the man as Seattle Fire Department medics responded. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition was not available, but his injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.

Officers conducted an extensive search but did not locate the suspects, Jamieson said.
