Police: Man shot dead at Kent motel; suspect captured on video
KENT, Wash. - Police are hoping the public can help them track down a suspect who shot another man to death Thursday morning at a Kent motel.
Officers and medics responded to the scene, in the 22200 block of 84th Avenue South in Kent, at about 8:05 a.m. after receiving reports of a shooting, said Cmdr. Jarod Kasner of the Kent police.
The victim was found dead of a gunshot wound at the scene. The shooter had already fled in a silver or gray four-door sedan when officers arrived, Kasner said.
Officers searched the area for the suspect but were unsuccessful in locating him. But an investigation found that the shooter and suspected driver of the sedan were caught on surveillance video.
The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. Police say they believe the suspects and the victim knew each other.
Investigators are working to identify the involved suspects and are hopeful that the public can assist. Anyone with information or who recognizes the individual or car shown in screenshots from the surveillance video is urged to call 911 or contact the Kent Police Department tip line at (253) 856-5808.
