Police: Man arrested after threatening to stab 7-Eleven clerk

SEATTLE -- The 19-year-old man who threatened to stab a 7-Eleven clerk Wednesday was arrested a block away from the scene of the crime Thursday, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to police, the suspect entered the convenience store in the 4200 block of University Way Northeast shortly before 4:15 p.m. Wednesday and tried to steal food. When the clerk confronted him, he reportedly threatened to stab him with a knife.

The suspect ran off, and officers were unable to find him.

Around 4:45 p.m. Thursday, a citizen called 911 after spotting the suspect in the 4300 block of University Way Northeast.

Officers arrived and arrested the suspect, who had a knife on him, according to police.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of robbery.
