Police: Man accidentally drops rifle while running from cops

SEATTLE -- A 34-year-old man -- and human illicit pharmacy -- was arrested Tuesday morning after dropping a semi-automatic rifle while running from officers, according to the Seattle Police Department.

According to the police, the man, who had the rifle strung around his neck, took off running when officers showed up near Third Avenue and Yesler Way around 7 a.m.

The fleeing man dropped the gun -- apparently by accident -- and was quickly arrested, according to police.

Officers reportedly found 50 rounds of ammunition, 34.8 grams of heroin, 5.5 grams of crack, 6.2 grams of meth, 1.6 grams of marijuana and $1,499 in U.S. and Canadian currency on the man.

He was booked into King County Jail for investigation of violation of the Uniform Firearms Act and violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act.
