Police looking for man who robbed Olympia woman at gunpoint
OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Police are looking for the man who robbed an Olympia woman at gunpoint as she walked home Wednesday night.
According to the Olympia Police Department, the victim had just gotten off the bus and was walking near Ninth Avenue Southeast and Boundary Street Southeast around 10 p.m. when a man with a bandanna over his face walked up to her, showed her a gun and told her drop her purse.
The woman did as she was told. The man ran off with the victim's purse, but she followed him, according to police.
When the man noticed the victim following him, he reportedly yelled at her and fired his gun in the air.
The victim stopped following the man and called 911 from a nearby house. Officers and a police dog tracked the man for more than a mile to Capitol Lake but were unable to find him.
Police are continuing to investigate.
