Police: Jaywalking pedestrian struck by car in Lynnwood

LYNNWOOD, Wash. - A man was struck and critically injured by a car Thursday morning while walking in Lynnwood, emergency officials said.

Police and medics responded to the scene, at 164th Street SW and 36th Avenue West, at about 6 a.m. after receiving a report of a car hitting a pedestrian, said a Snohomish County Sheriff's spokesperson.

A man in his 30s was found down on the street with critical injuries. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center, said fire officials at the scene.

Investigators say the man was crossing against the light and was struck by a driver who had the green. The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with investigators. Police say neither drugs, alcohol nor speed are believed to be a factor in the incident.
