Police investigate deadly shooting at Tacoma home overnight
TACOMA, Wash. - A 24-year-old man was shot dead after two intruders broke into a four-plex in a central Tacoma neighborhood overnight, police said. The suspects fled and remain at large.
Officers responded to the scene, in the the 600 block of South Steele Street, at about 2:35 a.m. Wednesday after a woman called 911 and reported that someone had broken into her home and shot her boyfriend.
The man died a short time later. His name was not immediately released.
The 23-year-old woman and her 5-year-old son were unhurt in the incident.
The woman told detectives that two men wearing all black clothing broke in to the residence. shot her boyfriend and took money. They then fled the scene, police said.
Officers searched the surrounding area but did not find the two suspects.
Police are continuing to actively investigate the shooting and robbery.
