Police: Former Federal Way H.S. coach molested teen student

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- A 23-year-old woman who coached junior varsity basketball at Federal Way High School has been arrested for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old female student, police said.

Brianna Strong is being held in the King County Jail on $70,000 bail for investigation of third degree child rape, viewing and possessing child pornography and child molestation.

Federal Way police said they recently became aware of the allegations when a friend of the victim came forward. Detectives interviewed the victim, who said the incidents began at the end of last year and included kissing several times and texting naked photographs of each other. Investigators said the encounters progressed to molestation earlier this year but Strong told the victim they would wait to have a sexual relationship until she turned 16.

After being arrested Friday, Strong admitted to detectives she had molested the girl and exchanged naked photos with the victim, according to the statement of probable cause.

Strong's next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.

Federal Way School District officials said Strong resigned after her arrest. It was her first year coaching at the school.

The school sent a note home to parents informing them of their former coach's arrest and said they are cooperating with the police investigation.
