Police: Burglar high on crack gets stuck in blackberry patch
SEATTLE -- A 20-year-old man high on crack was arrested after burglarizing an occupied Seattle home and trying to escape officers through a patch of blackberries Sunday, according to the Seattle Police Department.
A couple was at their home in Judkins Park around 11:30 a.m. when they heard someone breaking a window. According to police, the couple hid in a bathroom and called 911 as the suspect kicked in a door and stole three purses.
Officers arrived quickly and cornered the suspect near some blackberry bushes. According to police, the suspect tried to escape through the bushes but only made it 10 feet.
According to police, the suspect, who had a stolen gun in his waistband, resisted arrest and grabbed onto an officer's gun during the ensuing struggle.
After being handcuffed, the suspect ran off again, according to police. He eventually slipped and fell into a parked car and was arrested.
The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of multiple felonies.
