Police: Argument on Metro bus leads to stabbing

SEATTLE -- Police say a Christmas Eve argument inside a Metro bus took a violent turn when one passenger stabbed another passenger.
Police say a man got onto a King County Metro bus in downtown Seattle at about 6 p.m. The man walked to the back of the bus and sat down next to another passenger.
That passenger apparently took offense to how close the man sat next to him, which started an argument. Police say the talk became heated, and at some point the passenger who had already been on the bus pulled out a knife and repeatedly stabbed the other passenger.
The driver stopped the bus near 3rd Avenue and Marion Street and the attacker got out and ran away before police arrived.
The victim, who is described only as an adult male, was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police are now searching for the knife-wielding attacker, who is described as a 40-year-old black man who was wearing a black coat, blue jeans and a black knit hat.
Seattle homicide detectives are interviewing witnesses and working with Metro officials to collect any video evidence that may have been recorded on the bus.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call the homicide tip line at (206) 233-5000.
