ARLINGTON, Wash. - A pickup driver died after suffering a medical problem and crashing along Interstate 5 early Tuesday in Arlington, the Washington State Patrol reports.

Troopers and medics responded to the scene, in the southbound lanes of I-5 near the Stillaguamish Tribal Police headquarters, at about 2:05 a.m. after receiving reports of a single-vehicle crash.

A white Chevy Silverado pickup was found off the freeway in the 22400 block of 6th Avenue NE in Arlington. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The name and age of the driver were withheld pending notification of the next of kin.

A preliminary investigation found that the pickup was heading south on I-5 when the driver suffered an unknown medical episode and veered off the roadway to the west, coming to rest along 6th Avenue.
