One killed, 3 injured in multi-car crash involving semi-truck on I-90 near Cle Elum
CLE ELUM, Wash. - A woman was killed in a multi-car crash involving a semi-truck on eastbound Interstate 90 near Cle Elum, according to the State Patrol.
It happened just after 3:00 p.m. Monday near milepost 84. At one point all eastbound lanes were shut down, which caused long back-ups. The left land was eventually opened to traffic.
The State Patrol said the semi-truck hauling a trailer was attempting to move into the right lane to avoid slowing traffic ahead. It ended up rear-ending one car, which then spun around and hit another car in front of it, forcing both off the road.
One person died at the scene. She was later identified as Marta M. Cuali, 54, of Quincy.
Three others were injured in the crash, one of them critically. No word yet on their conditions.
The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.
The right lane was shut down for more than three hours while troopers investigated and cleared the scene. The road has since fully reopened.
