Motorcyclist killed in crash while trying to pass car in bike lane

SEATTLE - A motorcyclist was killed in a crash while trying to pass another car in South Seattle Friday evening, according to the King County Sheriff's Office.

The crash happened in the 10500 block of Rainier Ave. S., just south of Rainier Beach in the Lakeridge neighborhood.

Witnesses told deputies, the motorcyclist tried to pass the car on the right, using the bicycle lane. The rider then struck a car, lost control and ended up crashing into the garage of a home.

Investigators said the 52-year-old man who was riding the motorcycle died at the scene.

No one else was injured.
