More than 60 firefighters battling Chelan County brush fire

CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. -- More than 60 firefighters descended on Chelan County Thursday evening to battle a brush fire that has already burned more than 400 acres of land.

The fire started at about 5 p.m. near a home in the Gold Creek area, about 15 miles northwest of Chelan, according to the Central Washington Communications Center in Wenatchee.

More than 60 firefighters from the US Forest Service and the Department of Natural Resources are fighting the fire, but the warm, dry weather and winds are hampering the efforts.

The fire is threatening a number of structures, but so far none have burned.

Investigators still haven't determined what sparked the fire.
