Cmdr. Robb Lamoureux of the Marysville police said 3-year-old Malakai Miller and 2-year-old Makai Miller are now in protective police custody.
He thanked the public for many helpful tips that enabled police to find the missing youngsters.
The boys, who live with their grandmother in Marysville, were were last seen by her on Sunday morning. Their mother, 30-year-old Tara M. Anderson-Miller, had recently been released from jail and was staying with the grandmother in order to visit her kids, according to police.
Sometime in the early hours of Sunday, police say the mother left the home with the two boys. The grandmother first tried to locate them on her own before notifying authorities. When she was unsuccessful, she called police, who in turn asked for help from the public Tuesday evening.
Anderson-Miller is homeless, has drug dependency issues and isn't fit to care for the boys, according to police. The boys' grandma has legal guardanship of the kids.
Police found the boys after receiving tips from the public.
Lamoureux said Anderson-Miller fled prior to officers' arrival in the South Everett area where the boys were located.
