Memorial set for Jan. 17 for slain Pierce County deputy
TACOMA, Wash. -- A memorial service for Pierce County Sheriff's Deputy Daniel McCartney will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17 at Pacific Lutheran University's Olson Auditorium, which is at 10th Avenue and 124th Street South in Tacoma.
The service will be open to the public. However, parking will not be available. Offsite parking and shuttle information will be provided later.
There will also be a vigil for McCartney at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Life Center Rainier, 17708 28th Ave. E. in Tacoma.
McCartney was shot and killed late Sunday night as he was investigating a home-invasion burglary in Frederickson. He is survived by a wife and three young sons.
One suspect was shot to death. A second person was later arrested as was a woman who authorities believe drove the two men to the burglary.
