Massive graffiti binge ends with apology note

SEATTLE -- A prolific Seattle vandal ended his Friday morning graffiti binge by spray painting a brief apology note on a garage door.

Police say the vandal or vandals defaced 31 cars, several garage doors and a retaining wall sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

The graffiti, which includes homophobic and racial epithets, spanned a mile from Mount Saint Helens Place, down Cascadia Avenue South to South Dakota Street. The crime spree ended near a local elementary school with a simple, spray painted message that said "sorry."

Officers documented the damage and are now trying to track down the responsible party.
