Marijuana grow operation discovered in overnight house fire
SEATTLE -- Fire crews found a marijuana grow operation as they battled an early morning house fire on Monday.
When firefighters arrived in the 6600 block of S. Langston Rd. at about 12:30 a.m., they saw two people leave the area. They determined the fire at the home was electrical and that it was mostly on the outside of the property. However, when some of the flames spread inside, fire officials say they found a large amount of marijuana plants near where the fire had spread.
Fire officials estimate about $80,000 worth of damage, and they have ruled the fire accidental.
The King County Sheriff's Office is investigating the marijuana grow aspect of the case, and they are looking for the two people who left the scene. We will update this story when we hear more information from the sheriff's office.
