FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (KOMO) - A manhunt is underway for a burglary suspect who fled police and is on the run.

The events began about 11:30 a.m. when a burglary was reported in the 25800 block of Marine View Drive in Des Moines, Washington. A resident got an alert about the burglary on his smartphone in Afghanistan and called police.

The resident also contacted a neighbor/landlord, said Sgt. Doug Jenkins of the Des Moines Police Department.

The neighbor went to the house after arming himself with a golf club and waited for the suspect. There was a fight and the neighbor lost a chunk of his hair, Jenkins said.

Video captured part of the squabble. "I'll [expletive] take your head off!" one man is heard shouting.

The suspect jumped into a Honda, which police later discovered had been stolen in Fife, and drove off. Police chased the man into Redondo, where speeds topped 100 mph.

The Honda crashed at Dash Point Road and First Place Southwest. The suspect got out of the car and ran off.

Police set up a perimeter with the help of Kent and Federal Way police. Officers used a canine team, but were unable to locate the suspect.

Jenkins said the suspect is a white man in his late 20s or early 30s. He is 6 feet tall with a medium build, brown hair and a ponytail.

The suspect also has a gray handlebar mustache - described as "Hulk Hogan" style. He was wearing a black baseball cap backward, a black jacket and blue jeans, Jenkins said.
