Emergency crews rushed to the scene, near the intersection of E. Madison Street and McGilvra Boulevard E., at about 11 a.m. Friday after receiving a report of a collision, said Kyle Moore of the Seattle Fire Department.
The pedestrian, a well-dressed man believed to be in his late 40s or 50s, was found on the pavement with severe, life-threatening head injuries. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center. He was not carrying any ID on his person.
The 26-year-old bicyclist, who was wearing a helmet, sustained minor scrapes and cuts when he fell off his bike. He was taken to Harborview for treatment and is expected to be OK.
Seattle police are investigating the accident, which occurred in a crosswalk, Moore said. So far there is no word on who was at fault or the circumstances that led to the accident.
