Man stabbed, severely wounded after running out of gas

ROCHESTER, Wash. -- A 25-year-old man was stabbed multiple times and severely wounded by two men after his friend's car ran out of gas Tuesday night near Rochester, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

The victim and his friend were driving near 183rd Avenue Southwest and Highway 12 around 11:45 p.m. when they ran out of gas.

According to the Sheriff's Office, they were approached by two men, who started a fight with the victim's friend. When the victim tried to break up the fight, the men reportedly stabbed him multiple times.

Both the attackers and the victim's friend fled the scene, leaving the victim to call another friend to pick him up and convince him to go to the hospital, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The victim was flown from Capitol Medical Center to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. He is reportedly expected to survive.

Detectives have so for been unable to find any witnesses or even a crime scene. They are continuing to investigate.
