According to reports, the suspected shooter used a trick umbrella to conceal the gun prior to firing at a 50-year-old victim near a homeless camp.
"Apparently it looks like an umbrella. He brought it up and pulled the trigger on the umbrella and it shot the guy in the chest," Seattle Police Captain Neil Low said.
The victim took a bullet to the chest, and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center with critical injuries.
Investigators believe 3 men were drinking together before the shooting. The shooting victim was striking another person with a board when the suspected shooter approached and shot him.
The suspected shooter is believed to have been uninvolved in the fight, and fled the scene after shooting.
Police describe the suspect as a black or Hispanic man around 30 years old. He's about 5'10" and was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information on the suspect or incident is asked to call Seattle Police.
