Man shot multiple times at Renton gas station; suspect flees

RENTON, Wash. - A 29-year-old man was shot multiple times as he sat in his car Thursday morning during an exchange of gunfire outside a Renton gas station, police said.

Officers responded to the scene, in the 300 block of Rainier Ave South, just before 4 a.m. after receiving a report of a shooting, said Terri Vickers of the Renton police.

They found the victim, a 29-year-old man, in the front seat of his car with two to five gunshot wounds to the leg and torso. He was rushed to Harborview Medical Center.

A preliminary investigation found that the suspect was outside the victim's car, a black BMW, and shot the victim through the driver's side window during an exchange of gunfire.

The shooter then fled the scene. A police dog was brought in but it was unable to track the suspect.

The suspect is described as a black male with slim build, brown hair and brown eyes, wearing a red-and-gray hooded sweatshirt or red-and-green shirt.

KOMO News video footage from the scene shows crime tape surrounding the gas station and the black BMW with bullet holes in the window.

The victim's condition was not immediately available.

Anyone who was in the area or has information about the shooting is asked to call the Renton Police Department at 425-430-7500.
