Deputies responded to the scene, the Blue Stilly Park in north Snohomish County, at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a shooting, said Lt. Stephen Dittoe of the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office.
Arriving at the scene, deputies found a 20-year-old Stanwood man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was treated at the scene then rushed to Providence Hospital in Everett.
Witnesses said several vehicles fled the park just after the shooting and before deputies arrived. The suspect remains at large. No description was immediately available.
During the course of the investigation, deputies found a car at a local gas station that may be related to the shooting. The area was cordoned off with crime scene tape as detectives gathered evidence.
Officials said it is not yet clear exactly what led up to the shooting.
