Man shoots himself in the groin with concealed handgun

SEATTLE - A 31-year-old man was rushed to the hospital Friday after he accidentally shot himself in the groin, Seattle police said.

Officers responded to the scene, in the 1000 block of South Cloverdale Street, at about 4:45 p.m. Friday after receiving a report of a shooting, said Seattle Police Department spokeswoman Renee Witt.

An investigation revealed that the 31-year-old man was standing outside, possibly talking with several other men, when he accidentally shot himself once in the groin with a concealed handgun.

Seattle Fire Department medics responded and treated the man. He was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The man could face possible weapon charges, Witt said.
