Man rescued after crashing car into Duwamish River

TUKWILA, Wash. -- Rescue swimmers successfully pulled a cold, but otherwise uninjured man from the Duwamish River after he drove his car into the water Monday morning.

It was just before 4 a.m. when a Boeing security guard near the scene along the 4900 block of S. 125th Ave. called 911 after seeing the Ford Freestyle wagon crash into the water. Two rescue swimmers dove into the water and assisted the man to a river bank.

The man appeared cold and shaken moments after he was pulled to the shore and was taken to a nearby waiting ambulance to be checked out.

There is no word what caused the driver to crash into the water.
