Man in stable condition after being stabbed in the neck

EVERETT, Wash. -- Everett police say a staggering, bloody 25-year-old man with a stab wound to his neck walked into a local business Thursday night and collapsed.

The Shoreline man entered a business in the 3000 block of Everett Avenue at about 7:45 p.m. He told employees he had been stabbed in the neck before collapsing on the floor, according to police.

Workers called 911 and tried to help the man until medics arrived. He was initially taken to Providence Medical Center, but has since been moved to Harborview Medical Center for treatment. Police say the man is in stable condition.

It's unclear what led up to the stabbing, but detectives with the Major Crimes Unit have detained and are now interviewing an 18-year-old woman believed to have a "domestic relationship" with the victim. They've also impounded a vehicle where they believe the stabbing took place.

Pending the outcome of the interview, police say they will likely arrest the woman on probable cause for assault.
