Man flashes laser at King Co. Guardian One helicopter

SHORELINE, Wash. - No one was hurt when a man flashed a laser at King County's Guardian One helicopter on Tuesday night.

According to the King County Sheriff's office, the laser strike happened around 6:10 p.m. in the Shoreline area.

The Guardian One pilot then notified deputies on the ground.

Deputies were able to locate a man in his 20's, in the area of Northeast 180th Street and 15th Avenue Northeast, who they believe was responsible for the laser strike.

Deputies confiscated the laser as evidence. No word yet if the man will face any charges.

A Federal Aviation Administration official told KOMO News on Tuesday night, the agency jointly investigates all laser incidents and, "when apprehended, perpetrators can face civil penalties."

The Guardian One pilot returned to the hanger safely.
