Man seriously injured in Lake City shooting; suspect arrested
SEATTLE - A 30-year-old man was seriously injured in a shooting Tuesday morning in Lake City after a dispute involving his girlfriend and her ex-boyfriend, police and emergency officials said. The ex-boyfriend is now under arrest.
Officers and medics responded to the scene, in the 1000 block of NE 125th Street, at about 7:45 a.m. after receiving reports of shots fired.
The 30-year-old victim was found at the scene with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation found that the dispute began shortly after the woman, her two children and her current boyfriend arrived at her ex-boyfriend’s home on 125th Street.
The woman and her ex-boyfriend - who is the suspect in the shooting - began arguing. When her current boyfriend tried to intervene, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot him, police said.
Both the woman and the ex-boyfriend called 911 to report the incident, and the ex-boyfriend surrendered to police when they arrived.
Detectives are questioning the suspect and will book him into the King County Jail later Tuesday.
