Man crashes car into Seattle building after apparent seizure

SEATTLE - A man in his 50s crashed his car into a building Thursday in Seattle's International District after having an apparent seizure.

Medics and emergency crews responded to the scene, at 6th Avenue South and South Dearborn Street, at about 10:05 a.m. after receiving a report of a vehicle plowing into a structure there.

Witnesses told responders that the man appeared to be having a seizure. He drove through the intersection and smashed into the Nikkei Manor building, an assisted living facility.

According to unconfirmed reports, the man was conscious and alert after the crash. He did not have any obvious injuries from the accident, but was taken to Harborview Medical Center to be checked out as a precaution.

The man's name and hometown were not immediately available.

There was some damage to the building's facade, but no major structural damage. No one was hurt inside the facility.
