Man arrested for allegedly ransacking church
LACEY, Wash. -- A 25-year-old Lacey man was arrested Thursday for allegedly ransacking a local church.
According to the Lacey Police Department, a citizen called 911 shortly before 3 a.m. to report a man pushing a shopping cart containing a power saw, musical keyboard and more from an area behind the New Zion Baptist Church in the 6000 block of Pacific Avenue Southeast toward the Woodland Trail.
Officers and New Zion staff arrived to find the church broken into and ransacked. Staff told officers several musical instruments, as well as other items, were missing.
Officers found a man matching the description of the man with the cart a block away. They also found the shopping cart full of church property hidden nearby.
The suspect was arrested and booked into Thurston County Jail for investigation of burglary and theft.
