Man arrested after human remains found in Tukwila
TUKWILA, Wash. -- A 37-year-old man was arrested Thursday night after human remains were found inside a container outside an apartment complex in Tukwila, according to a Tukwila Police Department news release.
Officers were called to the complex in the 5800 block of South 152nd Place after a resident discovered the human remains and called 911.
Rich Richardson said his neighbor at the apartment complex discovered the container.
“She was kind of freaked out and shaking,” said neighbor Rich Richardson.
“It’s shocking that someone would have done something like this,” Max Smikossoischik who also lives at the complex.
Detectives were able to identify a suspect related to the incident. He was booked into King County jail Thursday night for investigation of homicide, according to Tukwila Police officer Victor Masters.
Masters said police do not believe the incident was random.
“It's devastating and especially being so close to home. It makes you want to make sure cars are locked and your windows and doors are locked as well,” said Jamese Preyer.
The King County Medical Examiner's Office will be doing an autopsy of the human remains to determine the cause of death.
The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the case.
Detectives have not said whether the person killed was a man or woman.
