Man arrested after baby found with severe brain trauma, bite mark
BREMERTON, Wash. -- A 28-year-old Bremerton man has been arrested after his girlfriend's 8-week-old son was brought into a Tacoma hospital showing signs of serious abuse, including severe brain trauma and a bite mark on its arm, according to the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office.
A social worker at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital called 911 Friday when a 24-year-old woman brought in her son, who was non-responsive and listless.
According to the Sheriff's Office, the baby had a swollen and bleeding brain; three fractured ribs -- two of which were old enough to already be healing; an adult-sized human bite mark on its arm; bruises to its head, arms and legs; and possible internal abdominal injuries.
Detectives from the Sheriff's Office investigated and arrested the mother's live-in boyfriend on suspicion of assault of a child. He is being held in Kitsap County Jail on $500,000 bail.
At the time of the investigation, the baby was listed in critical condition at Mary Bridge.
