Man, 2 dogs dead in Tacoma fire
TACOMA , Wash. -- A man who may have returned to his burning Tacoma home to rescue his dogs was later found dead inside the house.
Two dogs were also found dead.
Central Pierce Fire and Rescue report that it got a fire call after 1 a.m. Thursday for the 12200 block of Steele Street South.
Firefighters found flames shooting through the roof as they arrived.
A woman outside the house told firefighters her husband woke her up and got her out safely. She called 911.
She thought her husband was right behind her but wasn't. She told firefighters she thinks he went back into the house to rescue the dogs.
Firefighters found his body inside the front door,
It took two hours to knock down the fire.
The cause is under investigation.
