Kent middle school closes due to sewer malfunction

RENTON, Wash. - A sewage backup forced the closure of Meeker Middle School Wednesday.

Kent School District officials decided to close the school and cancel classes at 10:15 a.m. when it appeared the problem could not be solved in the short term.

Officials said a sewer line running through a nearby park had become clogged causing a sewage back-up into the school. The school was cleaned up Wednesday and all classes are set to resume as normal on Thursday.

Parents are being advised to check with the district or the school's website for updates.
